The youngest author from Africa to be added to the list of the top 10 youngest writers in the world, seven year old Michelle Nkamankeng, has made history with her book titled: “Waiting for the Waves”.
This young South African launched her book which is the first of a four-part series at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, recently.
“A little girl called Titi and her family lived far away from the beach. One day they went to the beach, but she was afraid of the waves and her family helped her to conquer her fear,” she told Eyewitness News while giving a synopsis of the book.
Nkamankeng attends the Chapel Theatre of Sacred Heart College. According to her, the inspiration for the book came after she visited the beach with her family.
“The story highlights the contradictions of emotions: ultimately, by freeing oneself from fear, you give yourself permission to truly experience the beauty of nature,” Colin Northmore, head of Sacred Heart College said.
