By Anita Fatunji / October 10, 2016

Moyinoluwa Adeyemi, a Software Engineer has invented an Android Watch Face app that tells time in Yoruba, one of the four official languages of Nigeria.

The watchfaces which works on all screen type; chin, square and circle, currently has two Watch Faces in the collection. They show faces of a man and a woman dressed in the traditional Yoruba attire.

Moyinoluwa studied Computer Science from the Obafemi Awolowo University. She works as a Software Engineer at Swifta Systems and also a co-organizer at Google Developers Group.

The idea for the innovation came one Friday evening after work, she looked at a clock and thought what if the clock could tell the time in Yoruba.

The project was not an easy one as she had to get ideas from friends and also do extensive research before coming up with a working prototype. According to her, the Watch Face will most likely be the first ever native watch face app on the google play store.

Android Watch Face is not the only app that Adeyemi has developed. In October 2013, she developed an android mobile app called ‘Efficacy’ at the National Software Competition where she was the 1st runner up in the competition. Efficacy was created to identify counterfeit drugs in Nigeria.

Her in computer technology, innovations and ideas has brought numerous apps and software like Kawe, Molebi, Imageing, Tour9ja and FOTRAN online compiler into being.
