Nomad: A Madagascar-made handbag that charges mobile phones

Malagasy startup founded by Jessica Rakotoarisoa, Hamac has developed Nomad, a woman handbag which is able to charge mobile phones.

The bag has an integrated mini solar panel which can, besides feeding on sun rays, also get energy from artificial light.

Nomad handbags are eco-products made with biodegradable materials such as raffia, sisal (a plant), or silk fibre.

Focusing not only on the local market, Hamac aims to export most of its output abroad.  “80% of our output will be exported to Madagascar’s partner countries,” Rakotoarisoa said.
